Why is this medication prescribed?

Cefamandole belongs to a group of drugs called cephalosporins. These are antibiotics and work by killing or stopping the growth of bacteria (germs) which are causing the infection.

This medicine is used to treat infections such as lower respiratory tract infections, pneumonia, pulmonary complications resulting from cystic fibrosis, urinary tract infections, septicemia, soft tissue and post surgical infections, peritonitis, cellulites, abscesses, wound infections, and bone and joint infections.
